Klinsmann responds to celebrity cheers for Lee: "I'm always hungry"

Tunisia wins first October A match 4-0 in an evaluation game

South Korea coach Jürgen Klinsmann has some heartfelt advice for Lee Kang-in (Paris Saint-Germain-PSG), who received a celebrity-style reception for his multi-goal performance.

The South Korean national soccer team is coming off a 4-0 victory over African giants Tunisia in an October A match friendly at Seoul World Cup Stadium at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

After going winless in five matches with three draws and two losses since taking over, Klinsmann's side recorded a 1-0 victory over Saudi Arabia in Europe last month, but the Tunisians gave them their first back-to-back wins in A matches.

They are unbeaten in their last four A matches (2 wins, 2 draws), starting with a 1-1 draw against El Salvador on June 20.

It is also the first time Klinsmann has won a match by more than two goals since his arrival.

South Korea, ranked 26th in the FIFA rankings, is also evenly matched against Tunisia (29th) with a 1-1 draw.

After comfortably winning the first match of the October A-Match, South Korea will move to Suwon World Cup Stadium for the second match at 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Coach Klinsmann said after the match, "I was pleased with the performance. Before we took the field, I told the players that if they showed what they've been doing on the training field for the last three days, we'd definitely get a good result, and that's exactly what happened."

Son Heung-min (Tottenham), who was named to the substitutes' bench, was rested.

"It's a good thing we rested him," Klinsmann said. "We have the Asian Cup in the distance, but we need a healthy Son Heung-min for the upcoming World Cup second round qualifiers," Klinsmann said.

Lee was full of praise and advice for Lee Kang-in, who led the team to victory with his A-match debut and multi-goal performance.

"It was strange to see so many people cheering for one player. But I don't know if it will help him. Today, he was treated like a celebrity, not a soccer player, and celebrities don't score goals," he said.

"He needs an environment where he can always be humble and hungry to go out on the field and work hard and focus on soccer," he emphasized. 스포츠토토링크
